Air Services Agreement Signed Between Georgia and Iceland
On February 26, 2025, an Air Services Agreement was signed between the Governments of Georgia and Iceland in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. From the Georgian side, the agreement was signed by the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, Givi Davitashvili, and on behalf of Iceland, by Martin Eyjólfsson - the Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
The Air Services Agreement, based on liberal principles, does not impose restrictions on the number of designated airlines or destinations. The agreement also establishes legal framework for the initiation of direct scheduled flights between the two countries, which will increase airline interest and contribute to expanding flight networks, as well as to the development of tourism and the deepening trade and economic relations between Georgia and Iceland.
In addition to the signing of the agreement, representatives of the aviation authorities of Georgia and Iceland held a bilateral meeting, discussed topics of cooperation and expressed readiness to maintain active communication for the further development of partnership in the aviation sector.
