Independence Day reception in Reykjavík
On June 6, 2025, a reception dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day was held in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, organized by the Embassy of Georgia (with residence in Copenhagen).
H.E. Nata Menabde, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, and H.E. Martin Eyjólfsson, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, delivered the welcoming remarks.
The Ambassador emphasized special significance of the Independence Day, highlighted the friendly relations between Georgia and Iceland and positive dynamics in developing bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The Secretary of State reaffirmed Iceland’s unwavering support to Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Euro-Atlantic integration. Recalling the historic visit of the President of Iceland to Georgia last year, State Secretary noted the shared cultural values and growing people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The event featured cultural program with traditional Georgian dances performance by the guest artists from Georgia, followed by Georgian wine reception.
Georgia’s Independence Day celebration was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Iceland, representatives of the Georgian diaspora, and officials from Icelandic public and private sectors.
