On January 19, 2024, the Danish Film Institute Cinemateket, in cooperation with the Embassy of Georgia to Denmark, hosted the event “Georgian Movie Night”.

The event took place in support of the Georgian National Film Center, and combined two feature films - the classical and modern examples of Georgian cinematography: "The Blue Mountains, or an Unbelievable Story" by Eldar Shengelaya and "The Resting Samurai " by Levan Tutberidze.

At the beginning of the screening, Ambassador of Georgia Nata Menabde and the Programme Director of the Cinemateket Jesper Andersen made welcoming speeches, focusing on the importance of cooperation and cultural exchanges.

About 250 guests attended the movie screening, including the Embassy guests, as well as other attendees, interested in Georgia. Due to the high interest expressed by the public, film screenings were held in two separate sessions, in parallel. Between the sessions, the guests had the opportunity to exchange opinions accompanied by Georgian wine.

Considering the high interest in Georgian cinema, the Embassy of Georgia to Denmark, in cooperation with the Georgian National Film Center and Cinemateket, is planning to organize a season of Georgian films at a later stage. Along with other works of Georgian cinematography, the films of brilliant Georgian directors Tengiz Abuladze, Eldar Shengelaya, and Otar Ioseliani will be shown, and a special evening will be dedicated to their works.
