Ambassador of Georgia participated in Conference about Georgia's EU membership

On February 28th, Ambassador of Georgia Nata Menabde participated in a conference about Georgia titled: "Georgia on the way to the European Union: challenges and opportunities", which was organized by the "Danish Helsinki Committee for Human Rights" and the "Danish Foreign Policy Society", at the Danish Parliament.

Nata Menabde highlighted the historical significance of Georgia's well-deserved EU candidate status, which was granted in December 2023, which is a clear demonstration of all the hard work and dedication the country has made.

The Ambassador drew attention to the important reforms carried out by Georgia and talked about the planned activities on the way to joining the European Union. The priorities of our country and the importance of consolidated support of international partners in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration were emphasized.

At the conference, the addresses were made by the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Danish Parliament, the head of the European Commission's representation in Denmark, the Political Adviser to the EUSR for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia at European External Action Service, and representatives of Georgian and Danish civil society.

In parallel to the conference, a photo exhibition, organized by the Embassy, was presented at the parliamentary hall in connection with the historical date of 25th of February - the day of the Soviet occupation.

In his introductory speech, the Ambassador emphasized the role and reflections of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia, Georgia’s historical European values, and the invaluable importance of independence.

The event was attended by about 150 guests, representatives of Danish state agencies, diplomatic corps accredited in Copenhagen, analytical centers, and civil society.
