Maka Bochorishvili has meets with her Icelandic counterpart
Within the framework of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, met with her Icelandic counterpart, Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir.
Minister Botchorishvili congratulated Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir on her appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and wished her success in her future endeavors.
The two ministers reviewed issues related to bilateral cooperation as well as collaboration within international organizations.
Minister Botchorishvili expressed gratitude to Iceland for its steadfast support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The discussion also addressed security challenges in the region.
The parties highlighted the historic visit of the President of Iceland to Georgia in 2024, accompanied by an Icelandic business delegation to Tbilisi.
Special emphasis was placed on the agreement on air traffic cooperation between Georgia and Iceland, which is set to be signed in the near future.
The conversation further covered the relations of Georgia and Iceland with the European Union, as well as issues related to Georgia’s European integration.
The ministers also discussed ongoing developments in Georgia.
Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining active communication to further strengthen bilateral relations.
