Embassy of Georgia in Denmark Marks 17th Anniversary of Russian Aggression Against Georgia
On 21 August 2025, to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Russian military aggression against Georgia, the Embassy of Georgia in Denmark hosted a screening of director Giorgi Gogichaishvili’s short film “10:45” and a photo exhibition dedicated to the August War.
Opening the event, H.E. Nata Menabde, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark, addressed the audience on the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Georgia and underlined the importance of the international legal assessment of the 2008 war. The Ambassador emphasized that the aggression launched by Russia in August 2008 posed a serious threat not only to regional but also to European security. She noted that, 17 years on, Russia still fails to fulfill its international obligations.
The event reaffirmed the importance of consolidated support from the international community in upholding Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as advancing the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The commemoration was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Copenhagen, state and private institutions, and other invited guests.
