Grand opening of the Georgian Culture Days in Denmark
On September 24, 2024, the grand opening of the Georgian Culture Days in Denmark was celebrated in the center of Copenhagen, at Det Ny Teater. The remarkable series of events will continue until October 3, showcasing Georgian polyphony, dance, theatre, cinema, literature, and presentations of the unique Georgian alphabet and calligraphy.
Notably, this is the first time such a comprehensive cycle of events has taken place in Denmark and the whole of Scandinavia, aiming to promote the diverse and longstanding Georgian culture in this region. The initiative is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Georgia, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, co-organized by the Embassy of Georgia in Denmark. The Culture Days aims to foster people-to-people connections and strengthen cultural ties between Georgia and Denmark.
The Culture Days commenced with a concert featuring the renowned Georgian Folk Ensemble “Basiani” and the Kutaisi Song and Dance State Academic Ensemble. At the opening ceremony, Koba Khubunaia, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sport of Georgia, and Nata Menabde, the Ambassador of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark and Iceland, delivered welcoming remarks.
The event was attended by a broad audience, including representatives from the Danish state and private sectors, the diplomatic community, the Georgian diaspora, and members of the public interested in Georgian culture.
Following the concert, the guests enjoyed a calligraphy masterclass led by the esteemed Georgian calligrapher Giorgi Sisauri.
The folk songs and dance concert, along with the display of the Georgian calligraphy, was met with enthusiastic applause and appreciation from the audience.
