Copenhagen Hosts Screening of Sergei Parajanov’s Film
On 30 September 2026, the Danish Film Institute’s Cinematheque (Cinemateket) in Copenhagen, hosted a screening of The Legend of Suram Fortress, produced by Georgian Film studio, as part of a retrospective celebrating the work of the internationally acclaimed, Tbilisi-born filmmaker Sergei Parajanov.
Ahead of the screening, the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of Denmark hosted a reception bringing together representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Georgian diaspora and the film community, as well as cinema enthusiasts.
While addressing the guests, H.E. Nata Menabde, Ambassador of Georgia reflected on Parajanov’s creative legacy and his unique artistic vision, which weaves together the traditions and aesthetics of different cultures. She underscored the enduring significance of his work in enriching intercultural dialogue.
The retrospective, held from 5 August to 30 September, featured newly restored editions of Parajanov’s classic films, alongside special screenings and discussions.
