The Embassy of Georgia Hosts an Event Marking the 18th Anniversary of Russia’s Military Aggression against Georgia

Ambassador of Georgia H.E. Nata Menabde addressed the guests, reflecting on the grave consequences of the August 2008 war, the ongoing illegal occupation of Georgia’s indivisible regions of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, and Russia’s continued steps towards their de facto annexation. Ambassador Menabde emphasized that Russia continues to violate the EU-mediated Ceasefire Agreement of 12 August 2008 and continues to pursue the militarisation of the occupied regions and grave violations of human rights.

The Ambassador underscored the importance of the international community’s steadfast support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She further reaffirmed that Georgia remains firmly committed to its policy of peaceful conflict resolution.

The event featured a screening of Irakli Solomonashvili’s film „The Refugee”.

Representatives of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the diplomatic corps attended the event
