Bilateral Relations between Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark

Chronology of Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark were established on 1 July 1992.

Fields of Cooperation

Permanent Political Dialogue (bilateral, multilateral) the government of Denmark permanently supports territorial integrity of Georgia and participates in Georgia's democratic development process.

Technical cooperation with Georgia is one of the priorities of "Danish Neighbourhood Programme". This programme is a part of bilateral cooperation for Danish development and it is carried out with the Council of Europe and European Centre for Minority issues. The programme includes regional projects on protection of human rights, support for IDP, free Mass-media. After August 2008, Kingdom of Denmark decided to increase foreign assistance by 10 times. Denmark provides Georgia with assistance in the frames of the Danish Neighborhood Programme for the South Caucasus. Four million dollars allocated in the frames of this programme will be used to help protection of human rights of ethnic minorities and facilitate integration of internally displaced persons into the society.

Danish Caucasus Programme is a new two year programme being launched in cooperation with the Council of Europe Since 2005 through this programme Denmark supports activities in Georgia with regard to minority protection and integration of internally displaced persons (IDPs) through the Danish Refugee Council and European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI).
